Manchester City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain gave his thoughts on today’s draw, which lumped Pep Guardiola’s side in one of the toughest groups alongside Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Club Brugge.
Begiristain says City are aware of what they will be up against. “We have met PSG before (in May’s semi-final) but they have improved every year and even more this summer with free signings, but it’s unbelievable, the names and the quality of the players they have.
The Champions League is becoming very difficult. I was with Pep and the staff and we were talking about how we celebrate any time that we go through and that’s how it’s becoming.
Just looking at the groups – Porto, Atlético Madrid, Liverpool and Milan… just to get to the knockout round is going to be unbelievable. Some of the big names in football are going to be out. That is the magnitude of this competition”.
